A common theme around here is my hatred of Winter. You know that I hate winter, I know that I hate winter, the entire free world knows that I hate winter. Hate sounds like such a harsh word though. Detest? Abhor? I don’t know…I just don’t like it.
I have tried to have a better attitude this year by finding joy in the little things and seeing the grace in small things. My mood is much better than it has been in previous winters, but there is a fact that still remains. It is colder here than any human being should have to endure. Being on the Western side of Canada, we do not even have it as bad as much of the rest of the country; hats off to you guys but this is (barely) as much as I can take.
On Friday afternoon I Twittered and Facebooked about the fact that my husband had a Man Cold. The tweet led to Buzz Bishop (Popular Vancouver radio DJ, in case you did not know) asking me if I would be on his radio show (2PM! PST! Today!) (Audio clip to follow for those who don’t catch it live).
The thread on my Facebook status got to the point where Whoorl told me to “Come to California, lady!” I have loved California since I was wee and would live there if we could find work, health care, and also also remain Canadians. I love my country, yo.
Matthew read the status thread and told me that I should go. To California. By myself. Not only did he tell me to go, he ordered me to go. Heading away together is not an option (Who wants to watch three kids?) and with his new snowmobile(s) he has actually been loving winter. Me…not so much. He loves me and wants me to be happy. The sun makes me happy, so…
I looked to see if there were any great deals on airfare. After a flurry of emails between Whoorl, SAJ (My banner designer!), and Bethany, plans were rolling and my flight was booked. For Thursday. As in, THREE DAYS FROM NOW.
My trip will include “dottery” (Pottery with dots painted on) with Bethany (She lives in San Diego; I HAVE NEVER BEEN). I will then splitting the rest of my nights between Whoorl and SAJ and meeting up with a few other blog friends.
I also plan to blow the dust off of my (Poor, neglected) camera and take some photos. Woo to the hoo!
Saturday and Sunday are pretty much unplanned. So far. As long as I am outside and IN THE SUN I will be a happy girl. I have not seen that yellow orb in far too long. It is stupid, really.
I will end this post with a very eloquent thought.

How absolutely awesome. I’ve never been to Cali myself. My husband is from SoCal though and his family is all still there. Someday soon I’ll jump on board for that adventure.

YA!! For vacations. I am still trying to convince James to move to somewhere tropical. Right now I am thinking of Greece after seeing Mama Mia. LOL!! I love that type of open housing…and the SUN!!
