But Not

Spirit? Dimmed but not destroyed.

Heart? Bruised but not broken.

Joy? Dampened but not diminished.

Peace? Hindered but not hampered.

Happiness? Shaken but not stirred.

I trust that my God will not forsake me. Nor will my husband. Or my children for that matter.

When Jesus hung out with the children, I think He was onto something good. Faith like a child, and all.

Serious

Kids are so uncomplicated, even though they might look otherwise.

  1. I am feeling a bit like that too (long story) but you are so right about God never forsaking us. I’ve been clinging to that promise, I know you are holding firm also.

Cute photos. I love that last one. Kind of sums things up.

  3. In the valleys of my life – when I can remember – “In everything give thanks” (from 1 Thessalonians 5:18) – SO often this spins my perspective to that place where I can find a foothold to climb out of the valley … or more likely see the hand put there for me to take hold of.

Beautiful children and photos – as you say – think on those things.

  7. I LOVE that shot of Nathan that is cropped with just his face in the corner. Nicely done.
Hope you feel better…would a playdate later this week help? We (meaning, I…you put me to shame with your discipline) could have cookies and I’d bake them myself so as to stop eating (and drinking) you out of house and home whenever I visit. :)

  9. I say this whenever you post pictures, but it bears repeating. Your kids are gorgeous, and your photography is beautiful!

This morning I was reading Isaiah 40, and the last 4 verses are so awesome and encouraging, and seem especially applicable. It’s a beautiful chapter.

  10. Hi. I surfed in when Google directed me to your “irritated uterus” post. Now I’m sitting here in the hospital next to my wife (at 30 weeks on baby #2) reading aloud samplings of your thoughts. My wife feels reassured by your experiences, and thinks you have a beautiful family. Blessings in Christ, from both of us.

  17. lately I often feel sorry for myself…but then I read a post about how a new mother loses her newborn babe, and I feel selfish for not feeling more thankful for all the great things I have, instead of dwelling on only the negatives.
