It has been an astonishing three whole days (Almost four!) since I last posted. You would think that I had escaped to Mexico again (I wish).
Nope.
I left Friday morning for a work (And shopping!) weekend in Vancouver.
(This is a shot of Robson Street from my hotel room.)
Those of you who Flickr may or may not have seen the photo I posted on Thursday (Not, for sure, if you are my Mom. HI MOM!).
I spoke too soon when I said that the kids were on the upswing.
Not only were they still sick, but Matthew and I were starting to feel under the weather. On Thursday afternoon I took the boys to the doctor, and what do you know? They had EAR INFECTIONS. Awesome.
I am glad that I got the kids checked out before I left. It made it easy for me to shop in (relative) peace. I started with the thought that I would look for an Easter dress for Emily. I, um, bought three.
What?
I also bought my first pair of lululemon yoga pants (What was I waiting for?), a pretty Easter skirt (And white strappy heels!), and a few other wardrobe necessities (Like a spring jacket!). I kept it reasonable. Really.
My shopping partner (in crime) was my friend Kami. I only get to see her on these work weekends and it was a hoot. We first me two years ago at one of these weekend, and after spending all of that weekend saying, “No way! Me too!”, we knew we had each made a new friend. I get to see her at least once a year, and in between those visits I can read her site and feel like we are sitting down for coffee.
(NO IDEA what the deal is with my hands. Am I praying that the photo will turn out? Am I about to put the beats to her? I’m such a weirdo.)
She, however, is super.
On Saturday afternoon, I had a window of time between work and the dinner they had booked for our group at Joe Fortes. I jumped at the opportunity to meet up with my friend Kristin (And her son Nolan!) for coffee. I first met Kristin last June and we hit it off immediately. We enjoyed our second meet up, though it was way too short in my humble opinion.

She. Is. AMAZING. If you ever get the chance to meet her, do not hesitate. Unless you are a Creeplor. She’s had enough of those.
Meeting up with her has me looking forward even more to BlogHer in July, where I will meet so many great people. Are you going to be one of them?
The high of a great weekend came down to a low this morning. I woke up feeling like I am swallowing razor blades and my skin is uber-sensitive. I have a constant case of the chills, as well as waves of nausea and a constant body ache. I am like a walking (shivering, aching, coughing, nauseous) bruise. Complete with another visit from my (ir)regular companion The Trots. At least they have balanced out the Starbucks Oat Fudge Bar that I had for breakfast.
I spent the day counting the minutes until I could go home. We all headed to the airport, checked in, and then I learned that my flight was delayed ONE HOUR.
Sweet.
I consoled myself with the act that I could curl up in a corner of the departure gate and have the Internet keep me company. Except that the wireless network was down. At VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
Figures.
I called Honey for an update on him and the kids. The kids are fine, but he thinks he has bronchitis.
Perfect.
I finally got to board my flight, and after forty-five minutes of praying I would not hurl my cookies all over the people next to me, we landed safely. I then had to drive an hour (SIXTY MINUTES) to get home. I stepped foot in my house a few moments ago and I am beyond happy that I am finally HOME.
I will be even better once I crawl on top of my pillow-top mattress and pull my white duvet and quilt over my (aching, tired) head. Peace out.

Oh no! I’m sorry you are sick but at least it came at the end of the trip, not the beginning. I always get sick when I have traveled. It’s like body is in revolt.
I hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like you had a great weekend, well, the social part of it anyways! I hope everyone in your house feels better real soon and enjoy your own bed tonight!

There is so much illness going around. Take care of you and yourn.
Active yogurt sometimes helps with the digestive issues, but for a cold, I swear by ColdFX. Love that stuff.

I can totally commiserate with you–I just left work and am now at home, sick. With the flu. The same flu that my husband has had for the last three days. It’s awful. Even typing hurts. I think I’ll go back to bed.
Take care and get well

Oh man. That is SO not fun.
I’ll be praying for you and your family today. Mine has (by the grace of God) avoided many of the flus that have been going around, so I have the extra prayer time (hee hee!).
I made those Chewey granola bars of yours the other day (I messed them up royally the first time, so this is my first time actually tasting them) and you weren’t kidding about staying near a washroom after putting in flax seed! Goodness … but they ARE very good!

I hope you feel better soon. There is so much of this stuff going around. You have the same symptoms that my husband had last week. The Dr. said it was not the flu but mimicked the flu. It lasted all week. Feel better soon.

Awh, babe. I’m sorry. Potentially tossing cookies on a flight is NOT fun. I was like that on the way home from Alabama in January. Oy. Healthy thoughts abounding for you and yours.
Sidenote: Don’t you feel like traveling always begets more traveling?
I LOVE that. Even just having a good friend visit this weekend has planted a travel bug in my toes. I cannot wait! to traipse around in the upcoming months. I’m still working out details and financials and such, and I’m still not sure that I can make it happen before July, but I am so! psyched! to see you, amen.
