As Seen On Facebook

I KNOW.  I got all vocal on my birthday post about my aversion to memes. Then this crazy “25 Things” meme swept Facebook.  I thought about avoiding it but then Whoorl tagged me. The girl let me sleep on her couch, baked me Snickerdoodles at 1 am, and also introduced me to Sprinkles cupcakes. I needed to participate. I owe her. Here goes.

1. I hate memes. And yet, here I am. I am such a lemming.

2. I was a nail biter when I was a kid, but broke the habit. I now chew my lip and don’t even realize when I am doing it.

3. I learned to read before I was three years old. Books, magazines, newspapers. I was a trick pony for my Mom and Dad.

4. I skipped the third grade, and spent the summer after second grade learning multiplication and cursive writing. My dork-dom started at an early age.

5. I have my motorcycle license and used to ride a Kawasaki Ninja.

6. I am (apparently) a “hand talker”. My husband clued me in, but the fact that people duck during conversations should have been my first clue.

7. My older brother let me drive when I was thirteen and I ended up driving into the ditch on a deserted road. We had to get a front-end loader to get the truck out.

8. I used to be blind as a bat but had Lasik surgery three years ago. BEST THING EVER.

9. My counter usually has a number of baked treats on it, but they do not tempt me in the least. Salt is my kryptonite. BRING ON THE DORITOS.

10. Because of that extra “L” in my name, the correct pronunciation sounds more like AngELLA. It sounds all sorts of pretentious. If you dare say it that way I will hit you where it hurts.

11. We have a cat. I don’t like her much. I am not a “cat person”.

12. I say “pop” instead of “soda”. In Canada, a “soda” is like a milkshake…with carbonation.

13. If I am at home I am wearing my yoga pants (unless we have company).

14. I do NOT wear my yoga pants outside of the house, unless I am at the gym.

15. I am not a Night Owl by any means. My Internal clock turns on at approximately 6 AM, so I am in bed FAR before midnight.

16. I have eight siblings. No, we are not Mormon. Yes, my Dad has been married four times. And also, is fertile.

17. I swear more than I ought to.

18. My right leg is almost an inch longer than my left leg. Yes, really.  The hem on the left leg of my pants is always more worn.

19. I had surgery when I was three weeks old for pyloric stenosis. Now that I have children, I cannot fathom how freaked out my parents must have been.

20. I have cut my Diet Coke consumption down to a can a day. This will shock anyone that knows of my DC addiction.

21. I have never broken any bones.

22. Good music makes my heart fly. I am currently listening to “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz on repeat.

23. I am ridiculously ticklish. Don’t ever try to see if I am telling the truth or I will hurtchoo.

24. I have never purchased anything at J. Crew.

25. I had straight hair until I hit puberty. Hormones are CRAZY. Yo.

As a bonus for suffering through the above, I will offer you a photo of an adorable little girl.

Miss Emily

Have a great weekend, folks.

  1. 1. totally didn’t know that you have a cat.
    2. totally love what you do with a black background (this one of Emily AND that one of Graham yesterday)
    3. yoga pants = AWESOMENESS (when worn in their proper place) (although when I was 9 1/2 (yes NINE and a half) months pregnant with Liliana and had to do worship, I wore them on stage. yes, yes I did. and my husband almost died. but NOTHING ELSE FIT.)

I should clarify that I am not knocking hotties like you who wear them; I just hate how my thighs look in yoga pants :)

Hormones ARE crazy. My curls are pretty much gone! Thanks, Menopause!

(I’m a wee sad that I don’t at least have the option for curly hair)

I was shocked to read you had a cat. I can’t remember her every being mentioned or shown in any photos! Crazy!

And, “I’m Your’s” will probably go down in my all time favorite songs list.

  8. In re: to # 10, I must confess, that when I first started reading your blog, I assumed that’s how it was pronounced….and then somewhere down the line, (probably a meme of sorts) you made mention of the pronunciation, but in my head, I still pronounce it to myself the hoity-toity way. Sorry. If I ever meet you in person, I’ll make sure I practice it first :)

    Also? Ditto to # 23 – I’m a flailer.

  9. I had board straight hair until I had a kid. Then suddenly it started doing this half wavy, not quite curly/not quite straight, does-it’s-own-thing…thing. Quite frustrating but still odd to hear my stylist say “To compensate for that bit of curl….”

  12. I say pop too.

And I wear yoga pants an awful lot… even outside the home! But usually just over to my friend’s bakery to say ‘Hi!’ or the gas station. If I’m REALLY getting out of the home I put on “real world” clothes. :-)

  13. Ugh. We have a cat, too, and I don’t like him much either. Is it bad that I look forward to the day when he kicks the bucket? He’s 11, but to spite me, he’ll live to be 25, I GUARANTEE it.

  15. Jason Mraz is totally my boyfriend.

Easter lilies are poisonous to cats. Just sayin’.

It’s probably best that you have never purchased anything from J.Crew because J.Crew is an addictive little minx.

I must chime in with the Jason Mraz love too. That song is awesome, and I sing along at the top of my lungs every time I hear it on the radio. I keep meaning to get it on iTunes, but can never remember.

Okay so now after meeting you in person (thanks to my lovely friend Whoorl) I am a reader of your blog. My right leg is also almost an inch longer than my left leg. It was pointed out to me by my dance teacher in 8th grade which freaked me out. I also had STRAIGHT hair until my early teens and then my hair became curly, and I am still fighting that battle to get it to be straight again (my curls do not look nearly as pretty as yours)!

    9. I wish I only had one vice..I want sweet and salty and my waist is showing it right now.

    10. I didn’t know that “pop” was a Canadian thing too..I thought it was just a Michigan (along with a few other states) thing.

I’m glad you were able to have so much fun in CA! :)

  21. #20 – Congrats on getting off of Diet Coke – I had the hardest time with this until I started using Diet Kola Capsules to help me quit. I still like the fizz, so soda water for me!

  22. Yeah, I’ve been “tagged” on FB for this one and have yet to give in myself. Ugh.

But I did love learning more about ya and yes, you did have to do this if your friend introduced you to Sprinkles. YUM!!

P.S. I’m a blog/twitter crusade to get everyone to stop drinking sodas – diet or regular. Both are BAD for you! Good for you for cutting down…

I’d like to keep it that way, too! LOL. I think that is amazing about your hair but when it comes to hormones, nothing would surprise me – they are powerful things.

Omigosh, you and I have a lot in common…I had the tinted glasses also!

I skipped grade 4 and then did 2 grades of highschool in one year (plus summer school) so graduated at age 15. NOT a good idea socially.

I learned to read at age 2 (my son, now 4 1/2, could read at 16 months old). Also maybe not a good thing….he likes to sit on my lap and critique comments and emails I post).

    We also share #6, 8,9,12, 15, 17, 21,23,24.

Plus, we’ve both experienced a house fire….and hate winter (thus our recent move to Mexico) Weird, huh?
