And So It Begins

I need to preface this post with a disclaimer.  I did not mean to post so many photos, but THE CUTENESS. IT OVERWHELMED ME.

Next weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving. It is also Emily’s second birthday. Due to the fact that we are taking a trip across the border and that Matthew’s brother and wife are eating turkey with her side of the family, Matthew’s parents drove up for an early Thanksgiving/birthday celebration.

They had asked us ahead of time what Emily would like for her birthday. We told them that she loved books, that she loved to colour and draw, and that she loved to play with a Magna-Doodle whenever she came across one.

Grandma and Grandpa stepped it up a bit.  This was no ordinary Magna-Doodle.  It was THE DISNEY PRINCESS Magna-Doodle.

The upside for her is that the boys have not once asked to play with it.

She was a little excited about the books as well.

The expressions. They slay me.

She received some bling from all of the in-laws.

I like how the sun caught this one.

Grandma helped with a barrette.

She was all about the wand and the headpiece.  Butterflies! Butterflies everywhere!

Then we have the piece de resistance. Matthew’s sister had sent a dress.  A bona fide Disney Princess dress.  I was not ready for this, nor was Emily.

She then realized how pretty the dress was.  And how pretty the she was. She modeled the back of the dress.

Then she modeled the front.

I may live to regret saying this, or may start saying it with complete and utter sarcasm, but GIRLS ARE SO MUCH FUN.

Run!!! Run like the wind with it!!! It’s so much fun and she is your only one. I am SO thankful Brenna is a girly girl -and by girly girl I do not mean prissy. Dress up is Brenna’s favorite way of play. I love the look of wonderment on Emily’s face ~ she may wanna sleep tonight in the whole getup.

  37. Having gone through the girly thing twice, I totally agree. They love the princess stuff and are so cute about it.

That said, the same can be true for the boys as well. Starting out with two girls, it has been an eye-opener with this boy thing. But, I have to say that his level of enthusiasm for construction equipment and race cars totally rivals the girls’ levels for princess. And it makes my heart sore to watch him and discuss the differences between a bulldozer and a backhoe. OK, being a woman, I have to say it isn’t *quite* as exciting for me. But still. :)
