Matthew has often regaled me with stories of the appetite he had as a teenager. He told me that he was never full. He and his basketball buddies all took Foods class so they could have more to eat during the school day. The added bonus was that the girls were always dieting, so they got to eat their food too. He said he ate like a horse, but was tall and skinny. I could only DREAM of having that problem in high school.
Shortly after we were married, he had to renew his driver’s license. The lady asked him if he was still 6’2" and 150 pounds. He wasn’t kidding when he said that he was tall and skinny in high school. I’m glad he’s filled out since then.
We had my teenage brothers here for the month of July helping with the house. Their appetites…UNBELIEVABLE. There was the requisite breakfast, lunch and dinner…though they were larger than you would expect. For example, lunch consisted of a sandwich, a box of KD (each), as well as a couple of cookies.
About the cookies. I would make a batch of 16 cookies (they’re monstrous), and they would be GONE in a day. Maybe a day and a half. I was also making banana bread. Also gone within 2 days. Never mind any brownies, etc. that I may have made for after-dinner dessert. Remember, this is in ADDITION to the three meals.
Despite all of this eating, they pretty much have zero body fat. Amazing.
I now fully understand the bottomless pit of a teenage boy. Which gives me a bit of concern. I have 2 boys, and could possibly have a third in October. How will I ever feed them? Is it too early to start baking and freezing it for later? I’m guessing it won’t keep until they are teenagers.
I really do need to start saving NOW. Anyone want to donate to the cause?

Oh my gosh…so TRUE! My hubby can also ‘pack it back’ without ‘packin’ it on’! No fair.
I’m going to have to console myself with those cookies!

Lance said that they ate the sandwich, the box of KD, and the cookies because you put it in front of them….and they didn’t want to waste the food. But it is amazing that they got it all down!

Um, I didn’t put the cookies in front of them. They helped themselves to those…AFTER eating the sandwich and the KD. I was trying to cut down on my baking, but I guess the cookies are just THAT good

I don’t know if I can help you out….. I’ve got two boys of my own that already seem to eat their weight in food!
But remember, when they are teenagers, THEY can cook too

Steve is 6’1″ and tips the scales at 145. I am half a foot shorter and weighed that much on a good day (pre-baby, of course). Oh, the injustice.

Sorry, can’t contribute to your cause. I’m saving up for my OWN!!
I have one husband who eats more than the average man and is still 6″3 and 175lb. I have one child who looks as though he will have the same skinny build as his Daddy. Another child who is slightly more “solid” but already eats more than his older brother!!
Our food bill is already big enough, I can’t imagine how big it will be when the boys are teenagers!
I have to say, your brothers’ lunches don’t sound as big as Rob’s! If you can believe that
Oh, and if I make cookies, they are gone in a day or 2 as well. Sigh.

I’m not a big manly type (5’10″ 145 lb.) and I doubt any woman seeks me, but I don’t lift weights or play tackle football or work in a construction site. Maybe it tells me what I find in a woman won’t matter too much either (huh, I got a mustache…is it cool or not for guys to have that?) About you to put it nicely, don’t worry on what you eat with baby (you’re eatin for two and actually it’s healthy to gain pounds at that time). And a diet, health checkups and exercise can help balance the weight in a 20-30 lb. range. And nobody is rushing to loose it all after Emily is born. But running around after 2 boys may shed 5-10 pds. in a year (I hope so, but a family is more important, kudos to you)+
