A Dutch Blitz Update

I was just talking to my friend Adele and she asked how the kids were doing because I “haven’t been updating my blog as often”. They say there are only so many hours in a day, but lately I feel like someone is slowly taking those hours away one by one. I feel like we’re down to a 20-hour day now, and that’s on a good day.

So we had to resort to the old-school method of an actual conversation to get caught up. It was nice. I wish I had time to talk to every one of my friends on the phone. Seeing as I don’t, I’ll keep posting stuff here, so everyone is up to speed on our lives, whether they want to be or not. Though I guess you DO want to know, or else you wouldn’t be here, right?

I’ll be brief, because, well, I don’t have much time. Especially on Mondays. There’s both Playschool and swimming on Mondays. Throw in the trip to Wal-Mart I did this morning and it’s been a full day already. While I’m at it, why don’t I just list what I’ve done this morning. We all know how much I like lists.

Made and cleaned up breakfast for everyone.
Went to Wal-Mart and then dropped Graham off at Playschool.
Came home, and made cookies for Honey.
Made muffin mix, also for Honey.
Nursed Emily and played with her a bit.
Put her in her exersaucer while I put away last night’s dishes. Then washed this morning’s dishes.
Played with her some more, then handed her to Daddy.
Went with Nathan to pick up Nathan from Playschool.
Daddy had lunch ready when we came home, so that got crossed off of my list of things to make.

I still have laundry to do, and Graham has swimming. Oh, and never mind supper and the WIPING OF THE BUMS.

You know, it’s on days like these when I wonder if I should close down the Dutch Blitz tent. It takes time to post, but it takes even more time to keep up with all of you great people. I’ve tried to make Sundays a “no computer” day. There’s Church and then we try to do some family stuff. Throw in an impromptu visit by some friends yesterday, and you can see that those 20 hours I have are taken up pretty quickly.

I don’t know if I could ever stop posting. Mainly because if I didn’t post, our lives would not be documented. I have a hard enough time remembering the last time I cleaned my bathrooms or shaved my legs, so how would I remember the more exciting things in our lives if I didn’t document them here? I probably wouldn’t, and that makes me sad.

But Mondays are a little discouraging. I don’t have the time to catch up on everyone. Add that to the fact that most of the weekend I don’t get on here, and I’m a little behind. I just opened up my Bloglines and there are 44 posts I haven’t read. FORTY FOUR! Then it starts to feel like I’m behind on yet another area of my life and I think about quitting altogether.

The inner debate rages on. For now I’ll keep posting because I want to remember. And keep up on everyone else. Tuesday may be the day for that to happen.

Anyways…

Emily is doing MUCH better. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. She didn’t have it half as bad as some of you have experienced, but her tears were enough to bring on tears of my own. Saturday evening she was down to whimpering instead of bawling, and she only woke up once that night. Yesterday and today she is her normal self, and she even slept through the night last night.

That’s my girl!

I still have to give her the peppermint crap 2 times a day for a month to give her esophagus time to heal. She hates getting it, and I hate giving it. I try to entertain her by singing to her. She smiles, but I have a feeling she’s laughing AT me, not WITH me.

So there’s my update for ya. So much for it being “brief”. Hope you enjoyed it. Now I’m off to do some laundry, and maybe knock a couple of posts off of my “to read” list.

  1. I am so glad to hear that Emily is feeling better! :)

Wow, 44 unread blogs, you must read a lot of blogs. I appreciate the comments you leave on my blog, thank you.

  2. I know how you feel about not having enough hours in the day. My life is so crazily busy, if I tried to write a list of the things I’d done in a day, it would hurt my brain.

I also find it hard to keep up with all my blogging buddies. I just try my best. But the day my computer becomes more important than my babies, I will end it all. That’s a promise.

  3. Angella, I don’t know how you do it with 3 kids. Everyone wonders how I do everything with 1 child.
    You do a great job!
Glad to hear Emily is feeling much better.

  8. I think it would be wise to make a goal of doing a weekly blog pist? To knid of just sum up the week. i know what you mean. I used to blog almost daily, but cannot keep up with that. I am trying to post every 3-4 days which works best for me. If I ever shut down my blog, I think I would print it out because I love to also have the things we do documented. every day I write down (in an organizer) the things we do for school- each subject every day). Just like blogging, if a few days go by, no biggie. Just means I spent more time kissing boo boos, running in the yard and being a typical busy mom.

Your blog is always entertaining and sweet. It would be a shame if you stopped altogether.

  9. I hear you, my day seems to be down to about 15 hours, of which 10 seem to involve being tied to my computer doing module update work!

I only read about 4 or 5 blogs – had to cut it back, no time!!!

  11. Life just gets crazy, doesn’t it? Personally I think that if blogging is adding another pressure to your life that its not worth it, or at least not doing it on a regular basis….but I feel like I’m shooting myself in the foot because I love catching up on your family. Take whatever time off you need, when you need it, you know we’ll be here when you post again! :)

  12. brilliant! I’m so glad Emily is sleeping well. That’s the worst part about reflux to me – that they are uncomfortable sleeping!
