5 Things You Don’t Know About Me. Or Maybe You Do.

Red Dirt Road tagged me with this meme.  I had to give it some serious thought because I drafted a pretty long list of this kind of stuff a little while back.  It took me awhile to get this done because I actally spent time in the Real World today.  We were finally able to get the Fantastic Four together for their long-awaited photo shoot.

Avelyn, Emily, Danai and Olivia (In birth order)

In between wiping bums and baby barf this afternoon, I think I managed to scrounge up a few things you may not know about me.

 1.  I like Diet Coke.  Oh…we’re doing things you DON’T know about me.  How about the fact that I don’t like many other types of pop?  Especially the grape/orange/cherry variety.  Or Cream Soda…BARF.  I did as a kid; does anyone remember The Pop Shoppe?  We would get refills of all of those flavours and more.  I guess I’ve just become picky in my old age.

2.  Speaking of beverages, I like an hourly daily occasional beverage of the alcoholic variety.  You know; martini, margarita, wine.  I enjoy a nice glass of the wine at the end of the day to block out that day’s kid frustrations relax and unwind.  Hey - Jesus drank wine.  In fact, he even made wine.  So did I, at the local U-Brew place.  Just trying to be more like Jesus, you know.  **Dodges  lighting bolt**

3.  I have had my fair share of jobs.  Here they are, in chronological order…kind of:

Paper route

Family business at the airport (cafe person, drove a passenger van, filled vending machines)

Clerk at a drug store

Dairy Queen (No wonder I was so chubby)

Radio Shack (Geeks R Us)

Campground desk clerk

Breakfast server (at Briercrest)

Articling CA student.  The following jobs were all part time jobs I held while also articling.

Cocktail waitress (Yep.  Up in Rupert…most patrons were people I knew.  Not as sketchy as woking in say, Vancouver.  I could lift a tray full of drinks above my head if I had to navigate a crowd.)

Group home worker.  It was a group home for troubled teens.  I was only 19 myself at the time.

Hostess, then server at Monk McQueens in Vancouver.  I then worked as a server at Big River Brewing Company in Richmond.

I got my CA designation!

Worked in public practice.

Worked as a controller for a publications company.

Became a MOM.

Now I do that and do contract work teaching CA students (pretty brief description of all I do for them).

4.  I haven’t travelled much.  I have never been "across the pond".  Matthew has - he went to Capernwray in Sweden.  We went to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico for our honeymoon.

I haven’t been to every Province here in Canada.  Only BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario.  Not Manitoba or anywhere East of Ontario.  I’d like to see the rest someday.

I have been to Washington State many times on shopping excursions.  I once spent a week in the Napa Valley at a friend’s house (flew in and out of San Francisco.)  Been to Disneyland at the age of two (don’t remember, but have seen pictures), and as a teenager.

5.  I have daydreamed about living in Southern California ever since I was a preteen.  The fascination started when I had major crushes on the dreamy boy actors of that day.  Johnny Depp (ala 21 Jump Street), Kirk Cameron, Corey Haim.  Now my daydreaming is based on the fact that neither Matthew nor I are fans of winter.  At all.  The summers here are amazing and hot.  We spend every day at the beach.  Winter sucks.  And blows.  People here say we would miss the seasons.  That’s what we repeat to ourselves instead of curling into a ball and chanting "I’m in my happy place" until summer finally returns.

Matthew ’s Uncle and his family live in San Diego.  We’d like to go and visit sometime and take the kids to the Zoo, etc.  And maybe never leave.

Who to tag, who to tag?  I pick AmandaKami and Jenn D.  I would pick Karen, but she’s in MEXICO.  Lucky duck.

Hi there, stopped by via Reddirtroad. I went to San Diego last September. Run, fly, go as fast as you can. It was everything I ever wanted in California and more. The zoo was great too, my son loved it and still talks about our trip all the time.

It’s amazing to me how much information you expelled in only sharing 5 things. Just kidding. Always fun to learn more about people I don’t really know. And how fun to have those four babes together, I’m green with envy.
