30 Tiny Moments

First of all, thank you for your support on the whole photo thievery issue. I was not sure if I went overboard on my response (even though I giggle whenever I think of it), and your comments did wonders to encourage me in my uncertainty.

You better believe that I am going to spend this week putting my all into the Next Foto Friday post so that we can all do our best to prevent this from happening to us (again).

I responded to most of the questions in the comments of that post. One recurring question that came up was whether or not she apologized.

No, she did not.

Correction.

She apologized to her one solitary commenter about the butt photo. And I quote, “SO sorry for any of you that had to see THAT!” She then did a new post with another stolen photo from Disney with the following disclaimer:

(btw, I haven’t learned my lesson yet- I kind of stole this picture, too. So if I get reprimanded with an embarrassing picture again, PLEASE inform me immediately!)

Unbelievable.

In brighter news…

The lovely Jessica over at Kerflop created the 30 Tiny Moments Flickr pool and invited me (and you!) to join.

Part of her intro reads:

Do not worry about perfect photography or photoshopping imperfections (though you certainly can, you perfectionist, you). These photos are a collective memorandum to the tiny moments that so quickly escape us. They don’t need to be perfect, just full of whatever you want to remember.

I have been inspired.

For while love to take photos, there are some days when the craziness of life prevents me from picking up my weapon (my camera) and wielding it.

Signing up for the pool has forced me to see joy in the mundane, to see beauty in the every day, to see wonder in the routine. I may not post all of the photos here, but I will be posting them on Flickr.

Today’s submission (click on the photo to see the Flickr description):

Sweet Feet

Here is yesterday’s submission, along with a few others I posted from our adventures into the tundra.

  1. Cute pictures- and I’m glad to see that watermark on them. Apparently it’s very necessary! I can’t believe that other lady. Did she pretend the baby was hers, or just the picture? CREEPY!

PS- I’m very excited to be the first commenter!!!! =)

She did not pretend it was her photo – it was a post about her yoga class…

    ….what. a. moron.

I love the little feet picture! Perfect little piggies!

On a side not, I’ve been getting-my-macro-on all day long. So far, I’ve taken photos of: a spoon, a head of garlic, the cap off an olive oil bottle and my wedding bands. FUN!

I have an idea for Foto-Friday class–it would be great if after our “lesson”, you could assign us a type of photo to take using a certain setting, lens, function, etc. and we could turn them in for critique before the following Friday. What do you think?

  4. She’s not too SWIFT, that’s for sure.

I had a web designer use an unlicensed image on a design they did for me a few years ago, and I ended up with a huge bill. Which I am obligated to pay. I had no idea they swiped the image from a large image house.

I was selling Bical Grippers that had VW Bug TM on them and paid dearly to my lawyers to get out of paying VW TM a large sum of money for trademark infringement. It didn’t matter that I didn’t manufacture the shoes.

Large corporations have legal firms on retainer that spend all day every day looking for images/trademark infringement.

It’s one thing to do it by accident … another to do it and admit it two paragraphs down.

    STUPID!

  6. The comment above me was a scrape. Stealing of content to appear as if the site actually has content. Yick. Put Facebook or lolcats in your post and you will get scraped onto a splog as well.

    GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn’t join the pool, not because it doesn’t ROCK, it does. I haven’t really posted photos on my blog forever, and I just realized WHY. I used to LOVE it. I took photos all the time.

It’s because I went to the UK and borrowed a Nikon D70 and it RUINED ME.

I want a better camera. (Probably a D40) But I want to go to BlogHer more.

WOW, I can’t believe she actually put a disclaimer up saying that she hadn’t learned her lesson! I’d like to call her certain names, but I know you are a nice Christian lady who wouldn’t appreciate it. So, I shall think them on your behalf instead!
    Oh, and your kids?
    Are adorable.

  12. I spent last night figuring out how to watermark through PSP. It is easy to do using a plain script, but am trying to get a different effect through embossing. We will see. Glad to hear the drama is over and hopefully she does learn her lesson.

  13. I’m answering the question about random jerks ruining our fun. I felt so sick for you last night when I read that post, and I still feel sick about it today, and it made me want to delete my blog. However, it’s the best way to keep my family and friends up to date on how Ty’s doing, rather than sending out mass emails all the time. Sigh. I’m just going to have (blind) faith that most people are good and not *robbers*, plus I’ll be taking the watermark lesson. I just hope I’ll be able to follow along and implement it.

  14. I’m glad you’ll be doing a watermark lesson. This is something I’ve always wanted to know how to do. Not that I’m worried that someone’s going to steal my random photos of me and my friends from my blog, but there are a few pictures there that I do want to protect. Besides, it’s better safe than sorry.

    Looking forward to it!

Wow. Can I just say how incredibly stupid, naive and creepy I feel right now? My heart rate is up and my hands are shaking. Yes, I am that creepy person who stole the photo of your baby. And no, I did not initially apologize within my own post (I have now), because I wasn’t entirely sure how to handle the situation. Honestly, I didn’t even know if that was something you could have done automatically when a photo was stolen, or if it was a correction made personally. Clearly, I handled it badly.

Here’s what I did: I was writing a post mocking myself about falling asleep at an inappropriate time and thought a sleeping baby would be a good picture to post. Instead of finding one of myself or my own children (I didn’t have any on my laptop, only on my desktop), I googled “sleeping like a baby” and uploaded the first picture (and truthfully, the cutest) that came up. I didn’t wait for the page to load, and thus didn’t know that it was a personal photo. So, yes, living up to the “idiotic woman” label.

Your children are adorable and I am so very sorry that I stole your picture. I should have thought before I acted, but I didn’t and now I look and feel like a moron. I would be outraged if the same happened to me.

    I’m sorry.
