Blog Crises and Photo Editing

I am out of town for work (again). After my day of teaching, I grab a bite to eat and do some prep for the next day. Once that is done I crack open the laptop to get some personal stuff done and maybe peruse a blog or two. Or twenty.

My readings this weekend have spooked me a little. I keep reading about these situations where people have had their photographs stolen and used on other peoples’ websites. Cases in point:

1. Kerflop linked to this entry by Sweet Juniper.

2. Notes From The Trenches (She has SEVEN children! And I thought I was busy. I clearly have nothing to complain about.) posted this entry today about her photos that were stolen. She now watermarks her photos.

3. SAJ posted on twitter that someone had stolen her images.

4. I forgot about Y at Joy Unexpected until she was sweet enough to grace my site and my comments. Bad Angella.

It’s an epidemic, people.

FOR THE LOVE!

This made me start to wonder if I should stop posting photos. I set the Flickr photos of my kids to be seen by Friends and Family only. Except? I often post them here. I don’t post nude photos of my children (to keep the Creeplors away). You can add “right-click” html to prevent people from downloading, but people are smart these days. And unethical. And hateful.

I thought through this issue more and really? I’m nowhere near the calibre of blogger that those four are. I don’t get nearly the traffic that they do, and so maybe that means every one of you that do come here is sweet and non-jerk-like? Or maybe I’m as naive as I think I am.

However. I came to the following conclusion.

Foto Friday: Framing And White Balance

Foto Friday is back by popular demand. Or by semi-popular demand. Or maybe I just have a dull and boring life and have nothing else to post about.

Ha!

(I know I’m posting Thursday night, but the hotel has spotty Internet service. In 2007! So I’m sitting in the lobby. I’m changing hotels tomorrow.)

I don’t know if you all saw the photo of the Vancouver library that I took at night from my hotel. (That hotel? HAD INTERNET SERVICE IN MY ROOM.) I had a bunch of emails wondering what settings I used to get it to turn out. Here it is again:

I already posted about SAJ’s I Dress Like A Slob Every Day Flickr pool, but I think it’s such a great idea. You should join!  These “slobs” are looking pretty dang fine, in my humble opinion.  Slobs of the world unite!

I wasn’t planning on posting anything until Foto Friday (It’s drafted, pending final edits. For the three of you who care.) The week? It is BUSY. The hours? Not enough. The work load? Enormous.

I am teaching this Friday through Sunday. I have to leave tomorrow night and have eleventy billion things to do before I go. The main order of business has been to prepare so that the students don’t think I’m a complete door knob. I don’t think I’ll fool them, but it’s worth a try.

This is why I closed my Internet browser this morning and was pretending the Internet didn’t exist. I did keep email open, because who doesn’t love the little chime it makes when a piece of email arrives?

The day was chock-full of accounting mumbo-jumbo and listening to my ever-patient husband deal with Daddy Daycare. I was feeling a bit behind the eight ball but think it will all work out in the end.

After lunch I had some, um, symptoms. I Googled them, and even pulled out my health guide. Yep. I was pretty sure that I had succumbed to my very first UTI. Super. Could not have come at a better time. No really. I love being sick when I have to be on my game. Don’t you?

I traipsed off for a “quick” trip to the drop-in clinic. An hour later while sitting in the waiting room the trifecta of stress, discomfort and impatience may or may not have caused me to sob in the waiting room. And while in (finally!) to see the doctor. And while at the pharmacy. And the whole drive home.
